Rejection of Melancholy
$200
Melancholy often arrives cloaked in blue, but here it’s consciously defied. This composite of two layered ICM photographs enhanced with acrylic on archival paper pushes back against sorrow’s familiar palette. The blue is present, but subdued; the dominant blacks suggest depression’s lingering shadow. White streaks pierce the darkness, offering glimpses of clarity and hope. A red orb pulses with urgency, encircled by yellow like a flare or shield. Below, twin blue shapes echo melancholy’s ghost, acknowledged, but not surrendered to. This is not a portrait of sadness, but a refusal to be claimed by it.
